Sometimes the public authorities (courts, ministries, teaching institutions...) require documents not written in the Spanish language to be translated, and usually they need the translation to be a sworn translation (sometimes known as "official translation"). An Arabic to Spanish sworn translation consists of a translation carried out by a sworn translator authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who has to certify that it is a true and faithful translation of the original document.

Arabic to Spanish sworn translations have official capacity, so in most cases where you need to submit a document originally written in a non-official language to an official Spanish body they will require it to be sworn. For example, birth or marriage certificates during a naturalization process in Spain, or the translation of academic titles for their legalization in Spain. These cases also happen the other way round, that is, documents written in Spanish that need to be translated to a foreign language in order to be admitted by foreign bodies such as universities or embassies. In other cases, an Arabic to Spanih sworn translation is not absolutely necessary, but is advisable. For instance, the documents brought during court proceedings do not need to be translated by an official translator, but the only way to avoid them being impugned by the other party is to have them sworn. Similarly, Commercial Law documents (for example, agreements) are not required by law to be translated by a sworn translator unless the parties decide on this, but it is convenient to have them translated by a translator specialized in the Law, in order to avoid translation mistakes that can have terrible consequences.
